Daily drawdown calculator for prop challenges
How much loss capacity is left today, and what a proposed trade would leave. A profitable trade can still end a challenge — this is the number that decides it.
Remaining today
$3200.00
Daily cap$5000.00
Used today$1800.00
Left after the proposed trade$2300.00
Track this challenge →
Tracks daily and total capacity across every trade, including trailing drawdown.
What this covers
Daily loss limits measured from the day's starting balance, which is how most firms define them.
Does not cover trailing maximum drawdown, which moves with your high-water mark and is a separate calculation.
Does not know your firm's rules. Enter the limit from your own agreement, not from a forum.
Formula and assumptions
Daily cap = starting balance × limit percentage.
Used today = starting balance − current balance.
Remaining = cap − used today.
After trade = remaining − the proposed trade's planned loss.
Assumes the limit is measured on closed equity. Some firms measure on floating equity, which is stricter.
Assumes your stop fills at its price — a gap makes the real figure worse.

Worked example
Example — check your own firm's rules.
Starting balance$100,000
Daily limit5% = $5,000
Current balance$98,200
Used today$1,800
Remaining$3,200
Proposed trade risk$900
Left after the trade$2,300
Common mistakes
Measuring from current balance instead of the day's start, which flatters the number.
Forgetting open positions — floating loss counts at many firms.
Assuming the reset happens at your local midnight rather than the firm's server time.
Planning to the limit exactly, leaving nothing for spread, swap, or a gap.
